We stood silent as corral posts for an hour as we watched this horse whisperer work his gentle magic on this leery horse.
I wanted to capture the patience of the cowboy and the wary acquiescence of the horse in my drawing, so my composition has the pair appear to be walking toward the viewer, right off my paper, with the emphasis on the connection between man and horse. Everything is is less detailed, more lightly drawn so that your attention goes from the horse's eyes to the cowboy's hand.
When we finally left, this horse willingly wore a saddle.
