West Texas covers a lot of ground--miles and miles of land and sky waiting to be preserved as original southwest landscape paintings.

The Texas skyscape painter often ranges past the Davis Mountains to the rolling ranchland of the Marfa Plateau and south into ruggedly beautiful Pinto Canyon. Alpine, with its volcanic Twin Peaks and unobstructed sunsets above the high desert can also be found in Lindy Cook Severns art.  Marathon,  with the misplaced Ouachita Mountains ... Balmorhea ... Wild Rose Pass ... Guadalupe National Park ... even a few wild niches in the Permian Basin, such as the historic Big Spring site are represented in the pastel landscape artist | oil painter's  West Texas portfolio.

Big Bend Artist

Old Spanish Trail Studio

Big Bend Artist Lindy Cook Severns, a seventh generation Texan,  paints real places in the wild American west, the high desert ranch lands of Far West Texas and Big Bend country.  Lindy's paintings hang in most every state in the USA, and in collections in England, Australia, Germany and Canada.  The pastel landscape artist | oil painter is among 35 artists selected for inclusion in the definitive book TEXAS TRADITIONS, CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS OF THE LONE STAR STATE, Michael Duty and Susan Hallsten McGarry, 2010.

Featured in the national 2016 PBS documentary WESTERN PERSPECTIVE, the southwest landscape painter lives on a working ranch in the Davis Mountains near Ft Davis and Marfa with husband Jim, a stubbornly affectionate rescued terrier and a cranky African Grey parrot who passionately loves art.  Her studio sits across the road from Old Spanish Trail Gallery and Museum, where Lindy is the Artist-In-Residence.
