• THE SKY'S CARESS original pastel

Casa Grande in Big Bend NP

Original Lindy Cook Severns pastel landscape painting

    Soft pastels on archival paper

    14" x 11" art

    custom framed

    under museum acrylic

No matter how majestic the Texas mountains, the vast southwestern sky dominates all below. When the clouds descend beneath the peaks, as on this morning, it's as if the heavens are reminding the high desert that it's never alone. And as I hiked Casa Grande in the Chisos Basin of Big Bend that day, the clouds included me in their embrace.

    * outer dimensions framed are approximately 20" x 17" x 2", which is the wall space this painting will occupy. Click the dots by the painting's image to see examples of this original landscape painting actual size hanging on real walls. (The frames shown hanging as examples ARE NOT the same molding that is on the painting, but are sized comparably. The image of the frame not hanging IS the actual molding, however.)

    • Framed Under Museum Acrylic

Shatter-resistant UV-protective fine art acrylic glazing protects your art from wicked environmental ravages. Acrylic glazing is lighter and significantly more economical than museum glass. While it doesn't eliminate glare and reflection like museum glass will, we often use acrylic on miniatures and smaller originals where reflectivity isn't an issue. It's relative affordability and light weight makes it a worthy consideration for using on large framed prints. Acrylic is also a safe choice for wall art that will be shipped. (We use special museum shipping boxes and thus, we don't worry much about shipping under glass, but still...)

Clean your fine art acrylic glazing with any non-ammonia cleaner sprayed on a microfiber cloth. (Never spray wall art directly -- might leak in and damage your precious artwork!)

    Big Bend Artist

    Old Spanish Trail Studio

Big Bend Artist Lindy Cook Severns, a seventh generation Texan,  paints real places in the wild American west, the high desert ranch lands of Far West Texas and Big Bend country.  Lindy's paintings hang in most every state in the USA, and in collections in England, Australia, Germany and Canada.  The pastel landscape artist | oil painter is among 35 artists selected for inclusion in the definitive book TEXAS TRADITIONS, CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS OF THE LONE STAR STATE, Michael Duty and Susan Hallsten McGarry, 2010.

Featured in the national 2016 PBS documentary WESTERN PERSPECTIVE, the southwest landscape painter lives on a working ranch in the Davis Mountains near Ft Davis and Marfa with husband Jim, a stubbornly affectionate rescued terrier and a cranky African Grey parrot who passionately loves art.  Her studio sits across the road from Old Spanish Trail Gallery and Museum, where Lindy is the Artist-In-Residence.
