"RIDING THE RED DAWN"
A rainy dawn on Los Caballos formation in the Ouachita Mountains between Big Bend National Park and Marathon, Texas. Spanish explorers gave these misplaced mountains their name because they reminded them of horsemen riding in columns across the high desert.
This pastel is one of three Lindy Cook Severns paintings published in TEXAS TRADITIONS, CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS OF THE LONE STAR STATE by Michael Duty and Susan Hallsten McGarry 2010
Quartz-flecked Los Caballos formation rises a few miles outside Marathon, TX.
