RIBBONS OF SUNSET
Late afternoon is my favorite time in West Texas. This Big Bend landscape is a view from along the road into Panther Junction from the Terlingua/Study Butte entrance to Big Bend National Park. As we leisurely wound thru the park, the low winter sun painted its glow into the earth for a few special minutes.
I didn't change the color, didn't amplify the reds. It's really that magical out there!
I started this large pastel landscape painting with a wash of red orange, followed by rich violet darks to indicate the rocks. That under-painting gives this large pastel landscape an inner glow, so the sense of warm, transient light shines through.

Framed Under Museum Glass
Museum Glass offers the ultimate viewing experience while protecting your original painting from the damaging UV light, moisture and smudges. In most lighting situations, this glass virtually disappears. Clean the fingerprints off with a soft rag, and your framed art will be good to go for generations to come.
*Since your Lindy Cook Severns art deserves the best, our standard framing procedure is an elite one. Whether done by a professional framer or framed in the studio, every original pastel or drawing is conservation framed. This means that no reactive surfaces nor substances touch the paper, board or canvas the art. All of Lindy's art is done on acid-free surfaces. Always. We then use acid-free tape, acid-free foam board and acid-free matboard, then seal all these archival materials into a tightly protective frame. You won't see this, but know it's there, assurance that your fine wall art will endure for centuries.
