INFINITE HORIZONS

A summer storm formed above this Caprock Canyons landmark formation in the Texas Panhandle near Quitique. The already colorful sandstone canyons, soaked in morning sunlight, took on even richer and deeper shadows as the sun played in and out of the clouds. While I did this painting back in my studio from photos I took, in my mind the heat of that August day was still burning my shoulders, my eyes still squinting in the bright sunlight, and I could still feel the temperature change as I stepped into the cool shade created by the towering cumulus.

If you want summer in your life, hang this painting on your wall and feel it warm your room!

    COOK  SEVERNS

    Big Bend Artist

    Old Spanish Trail Studio

Big Bend Artist Lindy Cook Severns, a seventh generation Texan,  paints real places in the wild American west, the high desert ranch lands of Far West Texas and Big Bend country.  Lindy's paintings hang in most every state in the USA, and in collections in England, Australia, Germany and Canada.  The pastel landscape artist | oil painter is among 35 artists selected for inclusion in the definitive book TEXAS TRADITIONS, CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS OF THE LONE STAR STATE, Michael Duty and Susan Hallsten McGarry, 2010.

Featured in the national 2016 PBS documentary WESTERN PERSPECTIVE, the southwest landscape painter lives on a working ranch in the Davis Mountains near Ft Davis and Marfa with husband Jim, a stubbornly affectionate rescued terrier and a cranky African Grey parrot who passionately loves art.  Her studio sits across the road from Old Spanish Trail Gallery and Museum, where Lindy is the Artist-In-Residence.
