A SPLENDID RIOT OF PRICKLY PEAR

unique hand-repainted fine art print, one-of-a-kind remarque

    Artist Signature

custom printed giclee on fine art paper

after printing a single copy, I'll meticulously paint right on the high quality giclee in color-rich watercolor pencils to add detail and rich color and make each print a unique artwork, a remarque. I even paint out my original signature then sign the finished artwork anew to indicate that it now stands alone, my new fine artwork painted just for YOU.

We include an archival acid-free ivory mat and acid-free foam board backing to make this colorful cactus remarque easy to frame. (frame not included)

The 8" x 10" enhanced print ships matted to outer dimensions of 11" x 14" so it fits a ready made frame with those inner dimensions.

This enhanced print is the same size as the original painting and will not reproduce any larger. To see an actual size example of this remarque framed (again, we don't include the frame!) on a wall, click thru the dots by the painting's image. You can estimate that the outer dimensions framed would be from 17" x 20"  (shown in photo) down to  13" x 16", depending on how wide a molding you use.

A clear, resealable envelope protects the enhanced print until you frame it, and the ribbon-tied foam board case we package this painting in makes an elegant gift presentation!

A SPLENDID RIOT OF PRICKLY PEAR

When prickly pear cactus blooms in the southwest, the flowers can be so profuse, it's as if the desert isn't big enough to hold all the color. This species of prickly pear has violet pads that are as colorful as the large yellow flowers, and long spines to protect those tender, lovely pads from wildlife that enjoys dining on them. At various stages of development, the flower buds can be red, orange, even magenta, so I used transparent watercolors to suggest the ephemeral nature of those colors-- tomorrow, this would be a different painting.

      Old Spanish Trail Studio

Big Bend Artist Lindy Cook Severns, a seventh generation Texan,  paints real places in the wild American west, the high desert ranch lands of Far West Texas and Big Bend country.  Lindy's paintings hang in most every state in the USA, and in collections in England, Australia, Germany and Canada.  The pastel landscape artist | oil painter is among 35 artists selected for inclusion in the definitive book TEXAS TRADITIONS, CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS OF THE LONE STAR STATE, Michael Duty and Susan Hallsten McGarry, 2010.

Featured in the national 2016 PBS documentary WESTERN PERSPECTIVE, the southwest landscape painter lives on a working ranch in the Davis Mountains near Ft Davis and Marfa with husband Jim, a stubbornly affectionate rescued terrier and a cranky African Grey parrot who passionately loves art.  Her studio sits across the road from Old Spanish Trail Gallery and Museum, where Lindy is the Artist-In-Residence.
