In Far West Texas, where peaks embrace clouds and the terrain plummets to the lowland desert floor then up again, often in a ver short distance, each fold and tuck of the land can foster its own season. Yucca flowers magically appear in protected pockets of sunny warmth long before green grass carpets the mountains.

Watercolor washes in this small, fresh painting share the patchy pastel undercolors of the high desert forest, while the composition and detailed drawing suggests the energy of new growth by this hardy desert dweller.

This 10" x 8" original is matted in a heavy, acid-free ivory matboard and framed under non-reflective museum glass for the ultimate viewing experience.

COOK  SEVERNS

Big Bend Artist

Old Spanish Trail Studio

Big Bend Artist Lindy Cook Severns, a seventh generation Texan,  paints real places in the wild American west, the high desert ranch lands of Far West Texas and Big Bend country.  Lindy's paintings hang in most every state in the USA, and in collections in England, Australia, Germany and Canada.  The pastel landscape artist | oil painter is among 35 artists selected for inclusion in the definitive book TEXAS TRADITIONS, CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS OF THE LONE STAR STATE, Michael Duty and Susan Hallsten McGarry, 2010.

Featured in the national 2016 PBS documentary WESTERN PERSPECTIVE, the southwest landscape painter lives on a working ranch in the Davis Mountains near Ft Davis and Marfa with husband Jim, a stubbornly affectionate rescued terrier and a cranky African Grey parrot who passionately loves art.  Her studio sits across the road from Old Spanish Trail Gallery and Museum, where Lindy is the Artist-In-Residence.
