matted in 12" x 16" acid-free white matboard

Inspired by a tiny black and white snapshot from my grandmother's album, circa 1927, here three generations of beauties share a summer moment in a cold Texas stream. It's a scene that most anyone can relate to-- languid shade beneath willows, splashes from the little girl, with gently flowing water. The flirtatious young mother in red offers a smile as the photographer intrudes briefly on the ladies' time out for summer play.

This richly colored original watercolor painting measures 9" x 12" on heavy, acid-free paper and is matted in white acid free board and framed under non-reflective museum glass. Framed, the outer dimensions are 17" x 21".

"Beauties Bathing" is framed under non-reflective museum glass in a rubbed mahogany wood molding that echoes the darks of the water.

The simple frame lends itself to both traditional and contemporary settings, and the ivory mat keeps things from looking too stark.

Big Bend Artist

Old Spanish Trail Studio

Big Bend Artist Lindy Cook Severns, a seventh generation Texan,  paints real places in the wild American west, the high desert ranch lands of Far West Texas and Big Bend country.  Lindy's paintings hang in most every state in the USA, and in collections in England, Australia, Germany and Canada.  The pastel landscape artist | oil painter is among 35 artists selected for inclusion in the definitive book TEXAS TRADITIONS, CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS OF THE LONE STAR STATE, Michael Duty and Susan Hallsten McGarry, 2010.

Featured in the national 2016 PBS documentary WESTERN PERSPECTIVE, the southwest landscape painter lives on a working ranch in the Davis Mountains near Ft Davis and Marfa with husband Jim, a stubbornly affectionate rescued terrier and a cranky African Grey parrot who passionately loves art.  Her studio sits across the road from Old Spanish Trail Gallery and Museum, where Lindy is the Artist-In-Residence.
